Redpoint Research employs four principal investigators, several sub–investigators, three full time clinical research coordinators(CRCs), and a full time recruitment specialist. Redpoint CRCs are crossed-trained on all studies to ensure on the highest quality data collection, backup and oversight.
Our staff is progressive, proactive and forward thinking. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of research by maintaining continuing education, training, certifications, and research techniques.
Investigators
Herbert D. Goodman, MD
Dr. Goodman is a graduate of the University of Geneva, Switzerland, where he was involved in post-graduate studies of pharmacology and ophthalmology. Dr. Goodman is a published author and board-certified in Pain Management and Disability Evaluation. Dr. Goodman is an American Academy of Disability Evaluation Fellow, a Diplomat in the American Academy of Pain Management, and was elected as an approved consultant of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. Dr. Goodman is currently the director of Northwest Medical Center and the Southwestern Center for Pain in Phoenix, and has six years of clinical research experience. Dr. Goodman has PI experience in chronic pain studies, including osteoarthritis and lower back pain, hypertension, type II diabetes, diabetic neuropathy, and ulcerative colitis. He has also served as a sub investigator on many additional studies.
Jay G. Bernstein, DO
Dr. Bernstein received a diploma from Ohio University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has been practicing in the Phoenix area since 1983 and is board certified in Family Practice. Dr. Bernstein has been employed at Northwest Medical Center since 1996 and has been involved in clinical trials for 17 years. His PI experience includes allergic rhinitis, otitis media, depression and mental disorders, hypertension, prostatic hyperplasia, congestive heart failure, type 2 diabetes, myocardial infarction, chronic pain, hyperlipidemia and hypercholesterolemia, pediatric vaccination, and gastro-intestinal diseases. Dr. Bernstein has also served as a sub-investigator on additional clinical trials.
Lisa
Sparks, MD
Dr.Sparks received her medical degree from the University of California in Davis in 1981. After completing her internship and residency in Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Sparks was board certified in Internal Medicine in 1985. She has practiced Addiction Medicine full-time for 15 years, and has served as the Medical Director of two Behavioral Health facilities. Since 2000, Dr. Sparks has shifted her practice to include Medical Pain Management. She is currently in private practice at Desert Pain and Rehab Specialists, and serves as a sub-investigator for Redpoint Research.
Alfonso Roggiero, PA-C
Al Roggiero has been in practice in Arizona since 1987, and received his Physician's Assistant degree from Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, Tennessee. He has been with Northwest Medical Center since 1989. Mr. Roggiero has five years of clinical research experience participating in over 35 studies and serves as a sub-investigator for Redpoint Research.
Myron Licht , D.O., F.A.C.C.
Dr. Licht has been a subinvestigator at Redpoint since 2005.
Staff
Juan Castro is the clinical manager and lead clinical study coordinator
at Redpoint Research. Mr. Castro graduated from Pepperdine University
in Malibu, California, and was previously a Research Assistant
at Kaiser Permanente in Pasadena. He has a strong management,
computer, and business background, and is fluent in English and
Spanish.
Susy Pratt is employed full time as a clinical research coordinator.
She has a Biology degree from Boston University and was previously
a team leader and technician at the National Genetics Institute
in Los Angeles.
Melissa Forward
Recruitment Specialist /Assistant Research Coordinator

Melissa is in charge of all our recruitment efforts and advertisements. Melissa coordinates IRB approval of advertisements and is our point of contact for all media outlets.
General Staffing

Many other people work in a part-time or contractual capacity for Redpoint Research, including graphic designers, medical assistants, and specialty sub-investigators.
